Amanda Lundquist - Writer | Director
Writer and director, Amanda Lundquist, is keeping it in the family for her first narrative feature and directorial debut, co-writing Pinsky with her childhood buddy Rebecca "Rebbe" Karpovsky. She's worked as a non-fiction video editor for PBS' On Story series, as well as programming for A&E, Discovery Channel, National Geographic and Ken Burns' Florentine Films. She's currently working on production and post-production for the Yiddish Book Center's Wexler Oral History Project, traveling around the U.S. to collect video interviews about an Eastern European Jewish language called Yiddish. She co-founded Lipschtick, a borscht-belt inspired performance group, with Karpovsky in 2011. Her work in non-fiction storytelling makes Pinsky a fictionalized narrative about very true things.
Rebecca Karpovsky - Writer | Producer
Rebecca is a writer, actor, and producer currently residing in New York City. After graduating from Scripps College with a B.A. in Media Studies, she has worked for the Incentives Program at the Texas Film Commission and in accounting for Paramount Pictures. In Austin, She co-founded Lipschtick (awarded "Best Schtickers 2012" by the Austin Chronicle) with her co-writer Amanda “Schmaltz” Lundquist, producing short films and live performances. In Lipschtick, Karpovsky experimented with her love of creating intricate characters that were based on tradition, family and true stories. That collaboration grew into their feature screenplay debut, Pinsky.
Olga Vázquez Puertas - Director of Photography
Born in Barcelona, Spain, Olga Vázquez Puertas discovered photography early in life. As a teenager she shot some interesting short films in Barcelona . In 2009, she came to the United States at the New York Film Academy where she graduated from the Cinematography program with distinction.
With vast experience in many formats, both film and digital, Olga has worked on all kind of film productions, including narrative feature films, documentaries for television, and shorts films. She comes to the Pinsky team on the heels of The Elegant Clockwork of the Universe, the 2013 Cannes Short FIlm Corner Selection Town Red and recently just wrapped on the feature film A Lonely Woman.
Gabriell Debear Paye - Producer | Script Consultant
Gabriell Debear Paye is a mom and former high school science teacher now excited to be starting a second career as a screenwriter/film maker/script consultant. She writes entertaining scripts with social and environmental themes. She studied screenwriting at Emerson college and ScreenwritingU. She placed in 4 screenwriting contests and wrote a science textbook. She is excited about working on Pinsky because two of her grandparents were Russian Jews including a grandmother who was a lot like Marina!
Danny Hoshino - Editor
Danny is a former biologist turned musician and video producer. Having worked for years editing short-form content for the web, he is joining former high school classmates Rebecca and Amanda to take on his first feature length project with Pinsky. His goal as an editor is to be transparent, allowing the story to unfold seamlessly and naturally.
Marcella Gersh - Assistant Director
Marcella Gersh is a native of Los Angeles and graduate of Hampshire College, where she met Pinsky writer/director, Amanda Lundquist. She has spent most of her adult working life wrangling various groups of people, including stoners, engineers, elementary schoolers, and film enthusiasts. She currently works in Berlin, Germany, producing and planning talk shows and special programs for television. A Capricorn with Sagittarius rising, her practicality is in perfect balance with her creative energy to keep any production in line. That was a joke. But it’s also true. Identity and morality are Marcella's favorite topics. Pinsky is just the thing.
Ara Woland - Co-Producer
With an aura of intensity and a richly artistic presence, Ara Woland is a New York City based actor and producer of extensive range, who has taken on vastly differing roles throughout his career. An Armenian-born actor with a theatre background, Ara is trilingual and has been trained in method acting, pantomime and classical piano. His most recent film Welkome Home is currently touring the international film festival circuit, and will be released nationwide in Russia in September, 2014.
Mac McDonald - Creative Director | Web Designer
Maggie is a visual designer and obsessive social media consumer who can't shut up on the internet. After Amanda and Rebecca, Maggie is one of the people who has been involved in Pinsky the longest, helping to develop the film's brand and aesthetics from the ground up all those years ago. Before Pinksy, Maggie had her hand in a number of different projects, from production manager on the Austin-based magazine, The Agenda to art director for Lipschtick. Maggie is currently a principle visual designer for a Massachusetts-based creative strategy agency. She has strong feelings about her dog, letter spacing and the Midwest. Mandy Newman - Composer | Music Supervisor
Mandy’s worked as a music supervisor and composer on narrative features. She’s worked with artists at Because Music and Interscope Records and has toured the world as a musician and DJ. Did she mention she loves music? Mandy will summon the powers of the tzar to get this film made.
Sasha Papernik - Composer
Sasha Papernik is a Russian-American classical pianist, singer, and composer who draws on her dueling heritage and wide range of talents to present concerts spanning the genre and continental divide. Papernik is currently a featured artist in this year's Lincoln Center Meet The Artist series and Carnegie Hall's Musical Explorers program. Her bilingual program, “I Speak Music," has toured New York City schools for The Center For Arts Education. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and the Manhattan School of Music. Stephen Nedeau - Unit Production Manager
Stephen Nadeau is a filmmaker originally from Portland, ME. After going to school in Asheville, NC and Savannah, GA Stephen now resides back in New England. Stephen’s producer debut film,Passing Through Traveling Down, has shown at numerous film festivals across the country. Stephen loves to explore and learn new things that are incorporated into his work.
Chris Sibley - Associate Producer
Chris is a filmmaker from Alpine, West Texas and Los Angeles, working as a Producer, Director and Editor, via his company Papalote Productions. Chris co-wrote and produced his first kickstarted short film, In the Breakroom (2010) as well as a web series Life@Large (2012). Currently, he is the live media director for Marfa Film Festival and is producing a feature length documentary for Viva Big Bend Music Festival. Chris’ resume includes work on feature films, corporate commercials, music videos, documentaries, concert visuals, and art videos. Chris received his BA in Media Studies Production from Pitzer College in Claremont, CA and will receive his MFA from the Peter Stark Producers Program at USC in 2016.
Natalia Sifuentes - Poster Designer
Natalia Sifuentes has worked as a graphic and web designer for over six years. Since moving to the U.S. from Mexico three years ago, Natalia and her husband have opened a guitar boutique: Calaveras in Austin. She is the mastermind behind their logos and marketing. She loves painting scenes of nature using watercolors, playing the melodica and listening to Disco. Natalia lives happily in Austin, Texas with her husband, Hector, and Eddie the Corgi.
