Your well-deserved update!
Have you wondered what’s been going on with us for the last few months?
The answer: a lot.
As many of you know movie-making can take a long time. Three generations of family members might come and go, but movies live on forever... in post-production. Thankfully, Pinsky is almost picture locked and will be ready for festival submissions by the end of the summer.
So what has to happen by then? How far away from a final cut are we?
We’ve recorded new narration that we're adding to contextualize the film for non-Russian/non-Jewish viewers. In order to get that narration, we needed more funds (what else is new?) and we turned to COJECO, a central hub for Russian Jewish speaking artists, to help us. We received grant funding for the rest of post-production. Thank the good lord.
What have we learned? It doesn’t just take a village to make a movie, it takes multiple arts organizations, re-writes, re-edits, drunken nights crying on the floor, unconditional love from family, self-delusion, a critical eye and a lot of humility and endurance.
Needless to say, we cannot wait to show you Pinsky. The feedback based on our trailer has been so warm and motivating. One day, when it’s all over, we’ll be eating popcorn in a theater together, watching Rebecca crying on a toilet and thinking “so this is what took so long?”
Thanks for sticking with us. We can’t wait to make you laugh, cry and ultimately talk about something else other than Pinsky. New series idea that takes place in South Florida? Oh yeah, we’ve got it.
With lots of love,
Amanda and Rebecca
